Liat Zilkha, DVM

Dr Zilkha is the founder and sole owner of White Angel Animal Hospital. Dr Zilkha was born in Israel and her family moved to Texas when she was under a year old.  She was raised in Houston and moved to Austin to pursue her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Zoology before going to vet school at Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She worked at two very busy advanced small animal hospitals in Coral Springs, Florida for a year prior to moving back to Austin.  There, she developed a strong background of practicing progressive, high-quality medicine and developed strong client communication skills.

In 2008, Dr Zilkha developed an interest in an experimental treatment for Canine Distemper, a very contagious and often fatal viral disease that affects many animals including dogs and ferrets.  She began to treat terminally ill patients and found that many survived.  She has seen people who drove their dogs to Austin from as far as California and Missouri for the treatment as she is one of only a handful of veterinarians that perform it. She is continuing to use this protocol and to advise other interested veterinarians on its use in the hopes that it will one day prove to be an effective treatment for Distemper.

In her free time, Dr Zilkha enjoys spending time with her husband, their lovely daughters Maya and Jordan, and their 3 dogs, a Labrador Retriever named “BisLee” & two Alaskan Malamutes named "Skye" and "Meeko."

Ali, our manager, graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Developmental Family Science with a specialization in Addictive Disorder Recovery Services. After she graduated, she moved to Austin and decided to aim her focus on one of the most important family members: the furbabies!

Ali has three pets of her own, Isabelle (German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix), Leo (Pitbull), and Fiona (black cat). Sometime in the near future, she pans on expanding her mini zoo with more animals! When Ali is not at work, she spends her time hanging out with her animals, going to the river/lake with friends and family, working with animal rescue groups, going to Town Lake to go on walks and decompress, or following her inner mermaid and hanging out in the water.

Although her degree does not specialize in animals she is ecstatic to be working in the veterinary field so that she can reach a variety of families in a meaningful way!

Aaron raised in San Antonio moved to Austin before high school graduation. He then pursued his interest in veterinary medicine, attended Bel Rea Institute of Animal Technology and graduated in 2006. He has worked many places from equine technician, surgery specialty hospitals for small and large animals to overshadowing at zoos for the last 10 years. His dedication, passion for the field and his knowledge of veterinary medicine has helped Aaron grow and continue to learn.

Arron enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, her son and the fur babies; Bamboo (11 ½ year old German Shepard/Rottweiler mix) and Loki (long-haired Siamese). And in his free time enjoys the outdoors camping, exploring, kayaking and attending music festivals!

Armani grew up in a military family but she calls Waynesville, Missouri home. After high school, Armani pursued her Vet Tech career. She graduated from Hickey College Vet Tech Institute in January of 2016. Since then, she has worked at an emergency hospital as well as a small animal clinic. Armani plans to return to school to receive her Bachelor's degree in Zoology from Texas State University.

Armani recently relocated to Austin for a change of scenery and is currently living with her cousin, Jalen, and her two cats - Larry and Carlie! She plans to have a mini zoo with cats and dogs!

In her free time, Armani enjoys binge watching Supernatural or Grey's Anatomy on Netflix (depending on her mood), improving her photography skills, exploring the city, and playing with shelter dogs!

I grew up in the Austin area with two dogs. When I was little, I picked Scooby, a golden mix, out at the shelter. I choose him because of his loving personality and all the kisses he would give. As Scooby grew up, I watched him develop several medical conditions and became fascinated with their causes and how to treat them.

Taking care of my dog sprouted a desire to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. I found myself most interested in reproductive medicine because of the interesting differences in physiology between animal species. I went on to graduate from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science focusing my studies in equine reproduction. It has been interesting to see how my knowledge in equine medicine has transferred over to working with smaller species like cats and dogs.

When I am not working, you can usually find me at a barn spending time around horses and riding. I have enjoyed competing in the hunt seat disciple since I was a young girl. I was able to continue riding and competing while in college by riding for the Texas Tech IHSA team.

Nate is from Dallas, Texas and is a true "Jack of all trades". He graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelors of Arts and Science with a focus on Exercise Sports Science. After graduation he and his girlfriend, now wife, Brittany moved to Austin to begin their careers and start a life in the city they fell in love with.

Although Nate had no previous veterinary experience his love for his two Boxers, Bo and Dana, led him and his passion for helping both people and animals to White Angel Animal Hospital.

In his free time he enjoys taking hikes with his dogs, improving his boating skills on the lake, video games, and taking drives with his wife in his truck. He is also a amazing cook and loves to grill.

Baron has been nominated as our official greeter.  He has also appointed himself as our dog-teaser, which is his favorite part of his job.  Baron joined the team in March of 2012, when Dr Zilkha saw him at the Austin Humane Society and adopted him.  He decided that Dr Zilkha's house did not have enough dogs to tease or people to mingle with, so he opted to stay at White Angel.

In his free time, Baron enjoys laying on the couch, bird-watching, and pretending that he is a tiger.  His absolute favorite hobby is getting on top of a large pile of fresh clean laundry.
